"Gunmen Kill 26 in Plateau State Palm Sunday Attack.

Image
A devastating attack occurred on Palm Sunday in Plateau State, Nigeria, where gunmen stormed Christian communities in Jos, killing at least 26 people and injuring several others. The attack, which happened around 8 pm, targeted student-populated neighborhoods, including Angwa Rukuba and Eto Baba. Witnesses described the attackers as wearing military uniforms and riding motorcycles, sparking fears and outrage among residents.  The Plateau State Government has imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area to restore calm and investigate the incident. Governor Caleb Mutfwang condemned the attack as "barbaric and unprovoked," assuring residents that security agencies are working to apprehend the perpetrators. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has also condemned the attack, calling it "unacceptable" and demanding swift justice for those responsible. US Congressman Riley Moore has warned that continued attacks on Christians in Nigeria co...

Israeli Police Block Catholic Cardinal from Jerusalem’s Holy Sepulchre on Palm Sunday.

Image
Israeli police blocked Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to celebrate Palm Sunday Mass, citing security concerns due to the ongoing Iran war. This marks the first time in centuries that church leaders were prevented from conducting Palm Sunday rites at the revered site. The decision sparked outrage from church authorities and international leaders, including Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and French President Emmanuel Macron, who condemned the action as an offense to religious freedom.  The Israeli government claimed the restriction was due to safety concerns, as the Old City has been targeted by missile attacks, and emergency response capabilities are limited. However, the Latin Patriarchate argued that the decision was "manifestly unreasonable and grossly disproportionate," especially since the cardinal and other clergy were traveling privately and not as part of a procession...

The ADC has welcomed Kwankwaso, describing him as a "game-changer" whose move signals a growing coalition for change ahead of future elections.

"Senegal to Parade AFCON Trophy Despite CAF Stripping Title Over 'Administrative Robbery' Claim.

Image
Senegal plans to parade the AFCON trophy today despite being stripped of the title by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) president, Abdoulaye Fall, described the decision as "administrative robbery" and vowed to fight the ruling. Senegal had won the AFCON final against Morocco 1-0, but CAF overturned the result, citing Senegal's walk-off protest against a late penalty award.  The FSF has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), arguing that the decision was "unprecedented and unacceptable". If CAS rules in Senegal's favor, the original result could be reinstated, restoring their title.

Hakimi Rejects AFCON Trophy, Congratulates Senegal on Fair Win.

Image
Achraf Hakimi has reportedly rejected the AFCON trophy, showing sportsmanship after the tournament controversy. According to him, my mum told me to reject the AFCON trophy. I’m officially rejecting it and hope my teammates do the same. We had our chance to win, but we didn’t. That’s football, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. He added that Senegal national football team beat us fairly and deserved the win. It would be unfair to take away their joy after their hard work. I respect CAF’s decision, but I did not win the 2025 AFCON. Congratulations to Senegal once again.

Ex-CAF disciplinary panel chair confirms Morocco walked out during 1976 AFCON final but still won title.

Morocco's 1976 AFCON win is being re-examined after a former CAF disciplinary panel chair, Raymond Hack, revealed that Morocco had walked out during the final game against Guinea. Despite the walkout, Morocco returned to the pitch and secured a 1-1 draw, which was enough to give them the title. This revelation comes amid controversy over CAF's recent decision to strip Senegal of the 2025 AFCON title and award it to Morocco after Senegal's walkout in the final.  The Guinea Football Federation is now seeking a review of Morocco's 1976 win, citing the recent ruling as precedent.
