Nigerian drug baron flees from South Africa, and was arrested in his home town in Imo state.

A drug baron on the wanted list of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, identified as Joachin Mbonu, has been arrested. Mbonu was arrested by operatives of the NDLEA in his village mansion in Imo State on July 5. A statement on Tuesday by the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, said Mbonu was arrested along with his associate. He stated that Mbonu belongs to a drug cartel behind the production of methamphetamine,popularly called (mkpuru  Nmiri). Before  his arrest Joachin Chikaodi Mbonu was a major drug cartel behind the production and distribution of deadly psychoactive substance, methamphetamine, popularly called ‘Mkpuru nmiri’ has been taken down by operatives of the NDLEA following the arrest of the leader of the syndicate, 42-year-old Joachin Chikaodi Mbonu and his associate in his mansion tucked in his Umuomi village, Uzogba-Ezenomi autonomous community, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State.” The cartel, with operational bases in Imo and Riv...

Bobrisky arrested by EFCC.

Controversial celebrity cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) For purportedly engaging in currency mutilation and the abuse of the Nigerian currency. The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, disclosed that Bobrisky was apprehended at Pinnock Estate in Lagos State on Wednesday.

Residents overpowered truck driver; loot rice, beans, garri branded in Tinubu’s name in Ondo.

Residents of Akure, Ondo state capital, on Monday, engaged in widespread looting of food items and grains conveyed by a truck into the state, Peoples Gazette can report.  The truck was overpowered after it developed a mechanical fault at one of the popular junctions known as the cultural centre along the Ondo express road.  The Gazette learnt that the fully loaded truck was conveying food items in the cartoons branded in President Bola Tinubu’s name.  Several witnesses who confirmed the development said those who attacked the truck and also looted its contents included petty traders, artisans, drivers and commercial motorcyclists. How they got to know the content still surprised me. The Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Air Peace Airlines, Allen Onyema, has narrated how his airlines suffered what he called both internal and external conspiracies. Onyema disclosed this on Monday while fielding questions on Arise Television’s Morning Show programme. Suspected gunmen abduct students in Delta, demands N10m.

GUNMEN suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have kidnapped a yet-to-be-identified group of students traveling along the East-West in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta state. It was gathered that the students were in a Sienna vehicle when they were hijacked Friday while coming from Calabar at the Evwreni axis of the East-West Road. According to a security source, the Sienna conveying the group of students coming from Calabar in Cross River State was hijacked Friday Night within the Evwreni axis and the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N10 million. It would be recalled that on February 24, 8 persons who were returning from Benin City, Edo State to Yenagoa were kidnapped from a Coaster Bus along Ughelli-Patani road, Ughelli North by unknown gunmen after which three female and one male was released When contacted, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright in a text message, said, “Not aware yet.”.

Gunmen abduct two worshippers in church in mowe, Ogun state.

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have confirmed the abduction of two worshippers at a Celestial Church in Mowe, Obafemi/Owode local government area of the state, by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.  In a statement released, the spokesperson of the command, SP Omolola Odutola, said the incident occurred at the church located near Oriyarin village, Mowe on Thursday, March 28. Odutola, who identified the victims as Oladapo Seyifunmi and Oluboboye Abiola, added that the hoodlums escaped through a thick forest behind the church. "Report at my disposal reveals that on 28/3/2024, unidentified gunmen invaded a Celestial Church around Oriyarin village, Mowe, and abducted one Oladapo Seyifunmi and one Oluboboye Abiola, and escaped through the thick forest behind the church.  The Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Abiodun, has been briefed, and he has ordered immediate mobilisation of security personnel to go after the hoodlums.”
