FIFA yet to decide on Nigeria's protest against DR Congo over player eligibility .

Image
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has clarified that FIFA has not yet made a decision on the eligibility dispute between Nigeria and DR Congo. Reports suggesting a verdict had been reached were deemed "false and misleading" by NFF's Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire.  The dispute centers on allegations that DR Congo fielded ineligible players, including those with dual citizenship, during the World Cup playoff match. The NFF had submitted a petition to FIFA, arguing that DR Congo's players didn't meet the country's citizenship requirements.  FIFA's regulations allow players to represent a country if they hold a valid passport, but Nigeria argues that DR Congo's domestic laws prohibit dual citizenship.
