Several supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Benue State have reportedly sustained injuries after buses conveying them to the party’s North Central mega rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, were involved in a road crash.

According to reports published on Saturday, October 10, 2026, the accident occurred as the supporters travelled to attend the political gathering.

The affected supporters were reportedly among those loyal to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

Reports by Idoma Voice and Leadership indicated that multiple vehicles were involved in the incident, which raised concerns over the safety of the passengers.

A report by NN24, citing Leadership, stated that two buses conveying the supporters were involved in the crash near Government House Junction in Lafia.

Dan-Morgan Ihomun, spokesperson for Akume’s APC camp in Benue State, reportedly confirmed the incident.

Although several people were said to have sustained injuries, the full number of victims and the severity of their conditions had not been officially established in the reports available at the time of publication.

The exact cause of the accident also remained unclear.

The incident has drawn attention to the importance of road safety during political gatherings, when large numbers of supporters travel between states to attend rallies and other party activities.
