AGN President criticized CAN over Ini Edo’s A Very Dirty Christmas movie.

Image
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) President, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, has criticized the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for their reaction to Ini Edo's film, "A Very Dirty Christmas". Rollas described the title as a "metaphorical and creative expression" meant to portray the complexities of the Christmas season, rather than an attack on Christianity. He emphasized that Ini Edo is a committed Christian and wouldn't intentionally disrespect her faith. Rollas urged CAN to focus on more pressing issues, such as violence and loss of innocent lives, rather than the film's title. He also defended the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) for approving the title, stating they operate within a framework balancing moral sensitivity with creative freedom.  The controversy began when CAN criticized the film's title, calling it "offensive" and "disrespectful" to Christianity. Ini Edo has since apologized and offered...

Emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Federal Fire Service, and Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, arrived at the scene within 12 minutes of the distress call, but the fire's spread was exacerbated by poor storage practices and crowd control issues. The US launched airstrikes against ISIS militants in northwest Nigeria, targeting camps in Sokoto state, according to President Donald Trump. The operation was carried out at the request of Nigerian authorities, with the goal of disrupting ISIS operations and protecting civilians, particularly Christians, who've been targeted by the group. Trump stated that the strike was a response to ISIS' "vicious killing" of Christians, while Nigeria's government emphasized that extremist groups target both Muslims and Christians. The US Africa Command confirmed the strike, saying it killed multiple ISIS militants.  Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth thanked Nigeria for its cooperation, hinting at further action: "More to come... Grateful for Nigerian government support & cooperation".
