Anthony Joshua Escapes Death in Ogun Car Crash, Two Feared Dead.

Anthony Joshua, the British heavyweight boxer, was involved in a car accident in Nigeria on December 29, 2025, that claimed the lives of two of his close friends and team members, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele. The accident occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, Nigeria, when the Lexus SUV he was traveling in collided with a stationary truck. 

Joshua, 36, sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for observation. His promoter, Matchroom Boxing, confirmed that he is in stable condition and receiving medical attention. Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences to Joshua and the families of the victims. 

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attributed the accident to excessive speed and wrongful overtaking, which are common causes of fatal road crashes in Nigeria. An investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash.
