Offa Explosions: Panic Grips Kwara Town After Midnight Blasts

Panic gripped Offa community in Kwara State after multiple explosions rocked the town late on Christmas Day, destroying property and causing widespread fear. The blasts occurred at three locations, including near the Eid praying ground and Solid Worth Hotel, with an undetonated explosive device later discovered at one of the sites. The incident happened hours after US President Donald Trump announced airstrikes against ISIS targets in northwest Nigeria, including Sokoto State. ¹ ² ³

Residents described the explosions as loud and sudden, with some thinking it was thunder initially. Buildings were damaged, but fortunately, no casualties have been officially reported. Security agencies have cordoned off the affected areas and launched investigations into the incident.

The Kwara State government and security agencies are yet to confirm any link between the Offa incident and the US airstrikes. The local government chairman, Suleiman Olatunji Omituntun, visited the scene and urged residents to remain calm and vigilant.
