AGN President criticized CAN over Ini Edo’s A Very Dirty Christmas movie.
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) President, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, has criticized the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for their reaction to Ini Edo's film, "A Very Dirty Christmas". Rollas described the title as a "metaphorical and creative expression" meant to portray the complexities of the Christmas season, rather than an attack on Christianity. He emphasized that Ini Edo is a committed Christian and wouldn't intentionally disrespect her faith.
Rollas urged CAN to focus on more pressing issues, such as violence and loss of innocent lives, rather than the film's title. He also defended the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) for approving the title, stating they operate within a framework balancing moral sensitivity with creative freedom.
The controversy began when CAN criticized the film's title, calling it "offensive" and "disrespectful" to Christianity. Ini Edo has since apologized and offered to change the title, but requested the film not be pulled from cinemas.
