AGN President criticized CAN over Ini Edo’s A Very Dirty Christmas movie.

Image
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) President, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, has criticized the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for their reaction to Ini Edo's film, "A Very Dirty Christmas". Rollas described the title as a "metaphorical and creative expression" meant to portray the complexities of the Christmas season, rather than an attack on Christianity. He emphasized that Ini Edo is a committed Christian and wouldn't intentionally disrespect her faith. Rollas urged CAN to focus on more pressing issues, such as violence and loss of innocent lives, rather than the film's title. He also defended the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) for approving the title, stating they operate within a framework balancing moral sensitivity with creative freedom.  The controversy began when CAN criticized the film's title, calling it "offensive" and "disrespectful" to Christianity. Ini Edo has since apologized and offered...

Image
Nigeria's World Cup hopes are still alive, thanks to a petition filed with FIFA over DR Congo's alleged use of ineligible players during the African playoffs. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) claims that up to nine DR Congo players may have breached FIFA rules by not formally renouncing their previous citizenships, as required by DR Congo's constitution.  Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, described Nigeria's case as "very tight," saying the decision to seek clarification from FIFA was guided by the rules of the game. Dikko emphasized that Nigeria is not acting as a sore loser but is simply relying on the rules.  FIFA is reviewing the complaint, and if DR Congo is found guilty, Nigeria could be reinstated into the Intercontinental Playoffs, potentially securing a World Cup spot.
