Why I reintroduced old national anthem:president TINUBU.

Image
President Bola Tinubu has responded to critics questioning his administration’s decision to revert to the old national anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee. Addressing the leadership of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, May 30, President Tinubu emphasised that reinstating the old anthem is a priority for his administration. Tribune Online reported that President Tinubu signed the National Anthem Bill into law on Wednesday, May 29, thereby replacing the current anthem, “Arise, O Compatriots,” with “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.” This move has sparked a mixed reaction among Nigerians, labelling it a “misplaced priority” amid the numerous pressing challenges facing the country. Defending his decision, President Tinubu stated that he aligns with the lawmakers’ intention to revert to the original anthem. He highlighted the importance of following the legislative process and respecting the law. “Let me allude to something that happened yesterda...

Nigeria’s New National Anthem (Full Lyrics): Tinubu knocks off Obasanjo’s record

Image
President Bola Tinubu Tuesday, at a joint session of the National Assembly, announced the outlawing of the current national anthem and the return of the old. The president later arrived at the joint session and confirmed ‘Nigeria, We Hail Thee’ as the “latest national anthem” before joining lawmakers in singing the new anthem, which was initially introduced in 1960 but later outlawed during the Olusegun Obasanjo military regime in 1978. Nigeria’s new National Anthem Nigeria we hail thee Our own dear native land Though tribes and tongue may differ In brotherhood we stand Nigerians all, are proud to serve Our sovereign Motherland. Our flag shall be a symbol That truth and justice reign In peace or battle honour’d, And this we count as gain, To hand on to our children A banner without stain. O God of all creation Grant this our one request. Help us to build a nation Where no man is oppressed And so with...

Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has rejected the Federal Government's latest offer of N60,000 as the minimum wage.

Image
On the issue of the minimum wage, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has rejected the Federal Government's latest offer of N60,000 as the minimum wage. The NLC insists on a minimum wage of N494,000 instead, highlighting the disparity between the proposed amount and what they believe is a fair and liveable wage for workers. The rejection of the N60,000 offer underscores the ongoing negotiations and discussions between the government and labor unions to establish a minimum wage that adequately reflects the cost of living and provides sufficient support for workers and their families.  The NLC's stance reflects the importance of ensuring that workers are fairly compensated for their contributions to the economy and are able to meet their basic needs. The push for a higher minimum wage aligns with efforts to address income inequality and improve the quality of life for workers across different sectors. It also highlights the challenges faced by many workers in meeting t...

BOYS TWO MEN Man City 1 Man Utd 2: Garnacho and Mainoo stun title winners in FA Cup final to give Ten Hag perfect send-off .

Image
HERE, in what was likely to be his last match as Manchester United manager, was Erik ten Hag’s ‘football bloody hell!’ moment.  In one of the greatest FA Cup final upsets of recent times, Manchester City blew their chance of an historic ‘double Double’ as first-half goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo sunk Pep Guardiola’s champions.   In 135 years of English football history, no club has ever retained both the league title and the FA Cup in the same season.  And, thanks to a tactical masterclass from their Dutch manager,  United  gleefully wrecked the party of the one-time ‘noisy neighbours’ who have dominated them for the last decade.  It was Ten Hag’s second trophy in as many seasons and it was the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s era that United had triumphed in a cup final against the odds.  In the last largely-barren 11 seasons, United had beaten Crystal Palace, Southampton, Ajax and Newcastle to win tr...

Image
Singer Sean Kingston has been arrested in California, hours after a police raid of his Florida mansion, during which his mother was also arrested. Mr Kingston was accused in February by a company of not fully paying for a huge TV and sound system. He was taken into custody in Fort Irwin, southern California, on fraud and theft charges on a Florida warrant, police in the latter state said. In an earlier social media post, Mr Kingston said his lawyers were “handling everything”. The Florida police raid targeted a residence near Fort Lauderdale at which the singer – whose legal name is Kisean Anderson – was named as living in court documents from February. US media – including the BBC’s partner CBS News – reported that the woman arrested was Mr Kingston’s mother. Confirming the raid to the BBC, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office said it served arrest and search warrants at the property. “As a result of the investigation, an adult female, Janice Turner, 2/16/1963, was taken in...

I have hundreds of First Class graduates CVs not employable – Emir Sanusi.

Image
Muhammadu Sanusi II, on Thursday, said a lot of first class graduates can’t get a job because they lack the right skills. Sanusi recalled telling Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State that he has hundreds of Curriculum Vitae, CVs, of first class students who lack requisite skills. He spoke at the ongoing Rivers Economic and Investment Summit in Port Harcourt, on Thursday. According to Sanusi: “The key to economic development is human capital. Investing in people is paramount. Rivers State needs robust education and skills training programmes that essentially aim to prepare youths to be the future for us. “I was speaking to the governor today, telling him that I’m sure he, as I do, and all of us, have hundreds of CVs of young people who have first class degrees. “Unfortunately, they cannot do anything to get a formal job because they have not been equipped with the right skills for this economy.” The just reinstated Emir of Kano applauded the governor for seeking t...

New Bayern Munich coach, Vincent kompany to raid Manchester city players.

Image
Vincent Kompany, the former Manchester City captain, has recently been appointed as the new coach of Bayern Munich. There has been speculation that Kompany could potentially target some of his former Manchester City players to bring to Bayern Munich.  This scenario could lead to an interesting dynamic, as Kompany would be attempting to lure players away from his former club to join him at his new team. Kompany is a ‘huge admirer’ of Stones who is said to be “very unhappy” about his lack of game time under Pep Guardiola this season. Stones has had injury issues but his return to fitness hasn’t seen him back in the starting lineup – he started just one Premier League game between March and the end of the season and made just 25 appearances in all competitions across the campaign. It is common for new coaches to bring in players they are familiar with and believe can help strengthen their squad. Whether Kompany will actually target Manchester City players remai...

Vincent Kompany reaches agreement with German giants Bayern Munich, with ex-Man City star to replace Thomas Tuchel

Image
Bayern have found their new manager! Vincent Kompany reaches agreement with German giants with ex-Man City star to replace Thomas Tuchel. The managerial search began in earnest after Bayern Munich announced in February that Thomas Tuchel would be departing the Allianz Arena this summer. The departure of Tuchel, coupled with unsuccessful negotiations with candidates such as Xabi Alonso and Ralf Rangnick, left Bayern in a challenging position and  have now been forced to turn their attention to Kompany  - who failed to prevent Burnley from going down to the Championship after a horrific Premier League campaign. According to   Sky Sports , the verbal agreement between Bayern and Kompany is now in place, and official negotiations with Burnley have commenced. While a formal deal has yet to be finalized, the parties are  reportedly optimistic about the potential for Kompany  to take on this significant new role. However, any potential transfer would involv...
