How Lagos Guys Rescued Kids From Tuesday Flood .
It happened in Lagos yesterday, Tuesday,30th of June,2026.
Rain fell heavily from morning till afternoon. In less than two hours, everywhere was flooded. Roads turned to river. Cars stopped moving. Shops closed.
In one area of Lagos, the flood was worst. Water rose high and trapped some kids who were coming back from school. The current was strong. People were shouting. Parents were running up and down looking for their children.
That was when some guys in the area stepped in.
They did not wait for fire service. They did not wait for LASEMA. They took action immediately.
About six to seven young men entered the flood. Some tied rope around their waist. Others used wood and buckets. They formed a line and started pulling the kids out one after the other.
The water was up to their chest in some parts. It was risky. If one person slipped, the current could carry everyone. But they kept going.
One of the guys said, “We saw the children crying inside the water. We could not leave them there to die. So we entered.”
Another one said, “It was God that helped us. The water was too much, but we managed.”
In total, they rescued the kids. Nobody died. Everybody came out alive.
After the rescue, residents gathered around. Mothers were crying and hugging their children. Some people clapped for the guys. Others were shouting “God bless you.”
One woman said, “These boys saved my daughter today. If not for them, I don’t know what would have happened.”
A shop owner close to the area said the flood started around 1pm. “Rain was falling like no man’s business. Before we knew it, the gutter overflowed and the whole street was inside water. The children were coming from school and they entered the flood without knowing.”
The guys spent almost 40 minutes in the water. Their clothes were soaked. Some had small cuts from debris and broken bottles inside the flood. But they did not complain.
This is not the first time Lagos is experiencing flood after heavy rain. Every year, many areas suffer the same problem. Drainages are blocked. Gutters are full of waste. And when rain falls, water has nowhere to go.
Residents said they have complained to government many times, but nothing has changed. “Every rain, we suffer. If not for these boys today, we would have lost children,” one resident said.
The flood also affected houses and shops. Some shops lost goods. Fences fell. Roads were damaged. But for many people, the most important thing was that the kids were saved.
The guys who did the rescue are from the same area. They are not celebrities. They are not politicians. They are just ordinary Lagos youths. Mechanics, traders, students. But yesterday, they became heroes.
After the rain reduced, the water started going down slowly. But the fear remained. Parents said they will not allow their children to pass that road again when rain is falling.
Lagos people know this story too well. Flood comes, people suffer, some people help, and life continues. But the question is always the same: When will government fix the drainages?
For now, the story of Tuesday is the story of brave guys who risked their lives for children they did not know.
If you were there, you would have seen fear, tears, and joy in one place. The flood brought pain, but the rescue brought hope.
Lagos people are strong. Even in flood, we still help each other.
