OPM Pastor Halts Daughter’s Marriage Plan After 1,000 Men Applied.
Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), has suspended his plan to marry off his 21-year-old adopted autistic daughter, Chiemeka Chibuzor.
The pastor had announced on Facebook that he was seeking a “young, able-bodied man” to marry Chiemeka, who he said “can speak and hear well.” He listed benefits for the suitor, including lifetime financial support, a free house built in both names, and regular supervision by OPM staff to ensure her safety.
The post drew massive interest. According to online reactions, men began “rushing as I type this” and “1,000 suitors” reportedly applied. The announcement came weeks after the pastor arranged the marriage of his non-verbal autistic adopted son, Aboy, now Elijah, to a single mother.
Following backlash from lawyers, nurses, and the public over consent, dignity, and welfare concerns, Apostle Chibuzor has now put the marriage plan on hold. Critics argued that “what these individuals truly need is proper care, support, and protection, not marriage”.
The OPM founder has not announced a new date or terms for the arrangement, saying the decision is to ensure Chiemeka is “properly cared for, protected, and lives a happy life”.
