Senegal has made history by winning the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, defeating host Morocco 1-0 in a dramatic final. 

Pape Gueye scored the winning goal in extra time, securing Senegal's second continental title. The match was marred by controversy, with Senegal walking off the pitch in protest over a penalty awarded to Morocco, but Sadio Mane convinced his teammates to return, and Edouard Mendy saved Brahim Diaz's Panenka penalty.
