Senator Akpabio Calls for Prayer After Witnessing Bullet-Laden Trailer.

According to a report by TVC on Saturday, November 29, 2025, Senate President Godswill Akpabio raised serious concerns after a viral video showed a trailer loaded with bullets passing through Zaria, near Ahmadu Bello University, reportedly heading to supply bandits along the Sokoto–Zaria highway.

In the video, which caught the attention of lawmakers, bullets were seen falling off the moving truck, causing fear among residents who witnessed the scene. The video immediately triggered discussions about insecurity and the increasing numbers of armed groups operating in the region.

Reacting after watching the video, Senator Akpabio described the situation as alarming and called for immediate intervention by security agencies. He urged the Senate to forward the Video to the police and ensure that an urgent response team go after them and investigates the trailer.

In his words:

“The people are crying. I think we should stop further discussion on this matter and go into prayers. But there is a lot of work to be done. Whatever you are going to say, Senator, these bullets that are dropping on the ground — we need to make a resolution on this now before the bullets find their way into the hands of the bandits.”

Akpabio emphasized that the incident shows the urgent need for improved intelligence gathering, prioritize highway surveillance and tighter monitoring of cargo movement across northern routes commonly exploited by criminal groups.

Other lawmakers who reacted to the footage speaks about the Senate President’s concerns, warning that the free movement of ammunition on major highways poses a serious national security threat if left unchecked.

Security analysts have repeatedly warned that the northern transport road remains a major channel used by armed groups to move weapons. The latest incident has shown calls for serious security checks, more efficient inter-agency coordination and a complete overhaul of the nation’s security logistics.

The Senate is expected to issue a formal resolution directing security agencies to investigate the origin, ownership and intended destination of the trailer loaded with bullets to prevent further escalation of banditry in the region.
