Instead, Laporta wants to give Messi a grand tribute match at the Camp Nou stadium once renovations are complete. The stadium is expected to have a capacity of 105,000 fans, and Laporta believes it would be fitting to give Messi the best tribute in the world.

Messi recently made a surprise visit to the Camp Nou, expressing his desire to return to the stadium "not just to say goodbye as a player". Laporta acknowledged the emotional connection between Messi and the club, describing the visit as a "spontaneous" display of love for Barcelona.
