"Nigerian Women Police 70th Anniversary: Female Officers in Enugu Face Forced Payments.

Female police officers in Enugu are facing a tough situation where they're allegedly being forced to pay between N5,000 and N10,000 for the 70th Anniversary Celebration of Nigerian Women Police.

Officers are being asked to pay N5,000 to N10,000, with senior officers paying more. The payment is supposedly for branded T-shirts and entertainment. Those who refuse to pay are being threatened with transfers to remote areas, which officers see as punitive. The directive includes payment to a personal bank account rather than an official police account, raising concerns about transparency and legality. Many officers feel the levy is exploitative, especially given the current economic pressures. They're questioning why individuals are being asked to fund an event expected to be officially backed by the Police Force. The Enugu Police Command hasn't issued an official statement on the matter, and efforts to reach the police spokesperson for comment have been unsuccessful. This situation has sparked discontent among female officers, who feel they're being unfairly targeted.
