Kwara Church Abduction: All 38 Worshippers Rescued

All 38 worshippers abducted from Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, have been rescued, according to President Bola Tinubu and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq. The rescue operation was successful after days of intense security efforts, with President Tinubu personally overseeing the mission. The abductees were freed on Sunday, November 23, 2025.

President Tinubu canceled his trip to the G20 summit in South Africa to focus on the rescue operation. The operation involved multiple security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Intelligence Agency.

Governor Abdulrazaq thanked President Tinubu for his direct initiative and the security agencies for their critical roles in securing the hostages' release. The church held a sobriety service after the rescue, with Pastor Bamidele Lawrence describing it as "God's promise kept". Officials emphasized that no ransom was paid for the release of the abductees.
