Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a suspected serial killer, Ogunnaike Philip.

According to Nigerian Tribune, Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a suspected serial killer, Ogunnaike Philip, 29, for allegedly kidnapping, raping, robbing, and murdering young women.

Philip confessed to his crimes, providing chilling details about his fourth victim.

Philip recounted his encounter with the victim, stating, "Very early in the morning, I went to board an Ibadan-bound vehicle. I got down at Iwo Road and decided to flow with street boys there. When I didn’t find it easy, I made up my mind to return to Abeokuta."

It was during his return journey that he targeted his victim.

He deceptively gained her trust by pretending to have had a vision about her. "She accepted my words and said she needed money from men. She said she was a makeup artist and needed about N500,000 to buy some things."

Philip exploited her vulnerability, offering a fake solution. "I told her to buy a sachet of water which I would touch with Ajé (object of fortune) I was moving about with."

The victim followed Philip to a secluded area, where he revealed his true intentions.

"She plucked a leaf that I pointed to her, opened her phone and started mentioning names of men she had stored in there. Suddenly, I grabbed her neck but told her that I was not going to kill her." Philip manipulated her into complying with his demands.

"She was so afraid, but I told her she was like me; that we were both criminals," he callously stated.

Philip then raped the victim, afterwards demanding she unlock her phone.

I told her to sit down and she did. I sat beside her. I told her to remove her dress, after which I slept with her. She was calm after that, and I told her to unlock her phone. She removed the password and gave it to me. I told her to remove her dress again, collected it and left. However, I dropped it along the way."

Philip claimed he hadn't intended to kill this particular victim, stating, "I didn't want to kill again; I had intended to go somewhere to settle down and take care of myself."

However, he admitted that his previous killings were motivated by anger when victims refused to quickly unlock their phones.

The Ogun State Police Command's arrest of Ogunnaike Philip brings some relief to the community, but the devastating impact of his crimes will linger for the families and loved ones of his victims.

The police investigation is ongoing, and further details about Philip's crimes are expected to emerge.

Philip's confession highlights the cunning tactics employed by predators, targeting vulnerable individuals, particularly women. This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and awareness in combating violence against women.
