Legendary Nigerian Singer Onyeka Onwenu Passes Away After Lagos Performanc

Lagos, Nigeria – The music world is in mourning as legendary Nigerian singer Onyeka Onwenu passed away unexpectedly after a performance in Lagos. She was 72.

Onyeka Onwenu, often referred to as the "Elegant Stallion" for her graceful presence and impactful music, captivated audiences with her soulful voice and powerful lyrics for over four decades. Her career spanned numerous hit songs, including classics like "Ekwe" and "One Love," which have inspired generations of listeners.

The tragic event occurred shortly after Onwenu's much-anticipated performance in Lagos, where she had just finished delivering an energetic and heartfelt set. Eyewitnesses reported that she appeared to feel unwell before collapsing. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Onwenu's contribution to Nigerian music and culture is immeasurable. Born on January 1, 1952, she carved out a niche for herself not only as a singer but also as an actress, journalist, and politician. Her dedication to social causes and her advocacy for women's rights and unity in Nigeria were as celebrated as her artistic achievements.
