Electricity plays a major role in the economy of any nation. It is a key factor of production for companies and if unavailable, may significantly impact output.

Businessowners and households in African countries with no stable electricity usually resort to alternative power supply such as gasoline generator which are usually more expensive, hence driving high the cost of production.
