The nightmare is finally over for 21 Nigerians who were abducted in Kogi State, including 15 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members. In a dramatic rescue operation, security forces stormed the kidnappers’ hideout in Egume Forest, Ofu Local Government Area, freeing the victims after a fierce gun battle. According to reports by Channels Television and Punch, the operation involved personnel from the military, police, Department of State Services (DSS), as well as local vigilantes and hunters familiar with the difficult terrain. Four suspected kidnappers were reportedly killed during the operation, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds. The rescued victims reportedly included eight males and 13 females, with 15 of them being corps members. They had been travelling through Kogi when they were attacked and taken into the bush.
