Nigerian Woman Arrested in Ghana Over Alleged Child Trafficking.

ACCRA, Ghana - A Nigerian woman has been arrested in Ghana by security operatives over allegations of attempting to sell her child to prospective buyers. 

According to reports from Ghana Police, the suspect was apprehended following a tip-off from members of the public who became suspicious of her activities. Authorities say investigations are currently ongoing to ascertain the full details of the case and to identify any other persons who may be involved.

A police source who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that the woman is currently in custody and cooperating with investigators. The child involved has reportedly been taken into protective care by Ghana’s Department of Social Welfare.

Child trafficking cases involving foreign nationals have been on the rise in parts of West Africa. Ghanaian authorities have in recent months intensified raids and public awareness campaigns to curb the menace.
