Davido Calls for Peace in Osun, Begs Political Leaders to Avoid Violence.
Grammy-nominated singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has called for calm ahead of the Osun State election, urging stakeholders to prioritize peace and protect lives.
In a video shared on his Instagram and X accounts on Thursday evening, the Afrobeat star appealed directly to political leaders, security agencies, and residents of the state to ensure the process remains peaceful.
Davido, who hails from Osun State, said the election should be about the will of the people and not violence or intimidation.
“My people of Osun, I beg una,” he said. “Election is coming and we need peace. No fight, no bloodshed. Make we vote and go home peacefully. This is our state.”
In what quickly went viral, Davido made a direct appeal to a prominent political figure he referred to as “our daddy from Imo State,” asking him to use his influence to ensure there is no crisis in Osun.
While he did not mention a name, the reference is widely believed to be directed at President Bola Tinubu, who has deep political ties in the South West and served as governor of Lagos State, a state bordering Imo politically in APC structures. The phrase “daddy from Imo State” sparked mixed reactions online, with many interpreting it as a respectful but pointed call for federal intervention to keep the election peaceful.
