Trump Hails Ronaldo, Questions England's Reliance on Harry Kane.

WASHINGTON – U.S. President Donald Trump has praised Cristiano Ronaldo while questioning England's use of captain Harry Kane following the Three Lions' FIFA World Cup campaign.

Speaking after England's semi-final defeat to Argentina, Trump described Ronaldo as "one of the greatest athletes in history" and praised the Portugal legend's winning mentality. He also said Harry Kane is a "fantastic player" but questioned why England manager Thomas Tuchel deployed the striker in a deeper role during key moments of the match.

"I like Harry Kane. He's a fantastic player," Trump said. "Why put him on defence? You have to get him the ball and let him do what he does best."

Trump's remarks quickly sparked debate among football fans on social media. Some agreed that Kane was too involved in defensive duties and not given enough opportunities in attacking areas, while others defended Tuchel's tactical decisions, arguing that modern football requires every player to contribute defensively.

Tuchel later defended his approach, insisting that football tactics are more complex than simply keeping a striker in advanced positions and emphasizing that every player has responsibilities both in and out of possession.

Kane remains England's all-time leading scorer and captain, while Ronaldo continues to be regarded as one of football's greatest players despite entering the latter stages of his career.
