Police Arrest Inspector Over Viral Anti-Obi, Anti-Igbo Remarks.

The Lagos State Police Command has identified and arrested an officer captured in a viral video making political and ethnic remarks against Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the Igbo people.

The officer, identified as Inspector Osumah Frank, was seen in the video discussing Obi’s 2027 presidential ambition and making remarks suggesting that an Igbo person could not become President of Nigeria.

Following the circulation of the video, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed the officer’s identity and announced that disciplinary action had commenced against him in line with established regulations of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Command stressed that the remarks were made by Frank in his personal capacity and did not represent the position, views or official disposition of either the Lagos State Police Command or the Nigeria Police Force.

According to the Command, police personnel are expected to maintain professionalism, civility, discipline and respect for members of the public at all times.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, also stated that wearing the police uniform carries the responsibility of upholding the dignity and integrity of the Force.

The Command further reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and policing with humility and integrity.

The specific disciplinary measures to be taken against Inspector Frank were not disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
