Barcelona have moved above Manchester United to become the second-most valuable football club in the world, according to the latest 2026 Forbes valuation rankings.

The Catalan giants are now valued at $7.5 billion, overtaking Manchester United, whose valuation stands at $7.2 billion. Despite the change in second place, there is still a significant gap at the summit, with Real Madrid comfortably leading the global rankings at an estimated $9.5 billion.

Real Madrid's position at the top marks another year of financial dominance. The Spanish champions have reportedly generated a record $1.27 billion in revenue, helping them maintain their status as football's most valuable club.

Barcelona's rise is particularly notable considering the club's financial difficulties in recent years. Increased commercial revenues, sponsorship growth and progress surrounding the Camp Nou redevelopment have helped strengthen the club's financial position. Barcelona also broke the €1 billion revenue barrier during the 2025–26 season.

Manchester United, meanwhile, remain one of football's biggest commercial forces but have slipped to third place in the valuation table.

Barcelona's move into second place is more than a financial statistic — it is a sign of the club's remarkable commercial recovery. Real Madrid, however, remain in a league of their own financially, with a $2 billion advantage over Barcelona.

For Manchester United, dropping to third will raise questions, but their $7.2 billion valuation confirms that they remain among football's global financial giants.

The bigger story is the continued dominance of Spanish football at the very top: Real Madrid and Barcelona now occupy the first two places in the world's football valuation rankings.
