“If that happens, it will be even more beautiful,” Ronaldinho said when asked about reaching the milestone. He also made it clear that his immediate priority is helping the team and inspiring his new teammates.
For Ravenna, the move is about far more than one famous footballer. Club president Ignazio Cipriani believes Ronaldinho's presence can bring excitement, attract supporters and help revive the club's ambitions. Ravenna finished third in Serie C Group B last season and is hoping to climb back toward Italy's higher divisions.
My view: I think Ronaldinho's return is one of the most romantic stories football has produced in years. At 46, nobody should expect the player who dazzled Barcelona and Brazil to suddenly dominate Serie C for an entire season. That is not really the point.
