ZIDANE ERA BEGINS: Zinedine Zidane Set To Become New France Head Coach.

Paris, France— After 14 years, the Didier Deschamps era is over. And the Zinedine Zidane era is about to begin.

Reports confirm that Zinedine Zidane will succeed Deschamps as head coach of the France national team following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Deschamps Says Goodbye
Deschamps’ final tournament ended in heartbreak — a 2-0 semi-final loss to Spain. He will take charge one last time in the third-place playoff before stepping down.

The 56-year-old took over in 2012 and led Les Bleus to their most successful period ever:
- World Cup Winners 2018
- World Cup Finalists 2022
- Nations League Winners 2021

He announced earlier this year that he would leave after the World Cup regardless of the result.


Former France captain Zinedine Zidane has reached a verbal agreement to become the next manager. The 54-year-old is expected to sign officially once the World Cup ends.

FFP president Philippe Diallo confirmed it, saying: _“Yes, I know his name”_ when asked about Deschamps’ successor.

Why Zidane?
Zidane is French football royalty.
- As a player: 1998 World Cup winner, 2 goals in the final, Ballon d'Or 1998, 3x FIFA World Player of the Year.
- As a manager: Won 3 straight Champions Leagues + 2 La Ligas with Real Madrid. 11 trophies in total at Madrid.

He has been out of management since 2021 and has repeatedly said coaching France was his dream job.

The Challenge Ahead
Zidane inherits one of the most talented squads in world football: *Kylian Mbappé, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurélien Tchouaméni, William Saliba, Warren Zaïre-Emery*.

The goal? Build on Deschamps’ foundation and win Euro 2028 and the 2030 World Cup.

Sources say the only thing left to finalize is his coaching staff and team size.
