MY BIGGEST DREAM: RAISING THE NEXT GENERATION OF MY FAMILY NAME IN FOOTBALL

Cristiano Ronaldo.
“My dream is to see my children continue raising our family name in football after I retire.”

That one sentence means more to me than any trophy, any contract, any headline.

Because football will end one day. The legs will get tired. The boots will be hung up. The stadium lights will dim.
But a name? A legacy? That can live forever.

IT’S BIGGER THAN FOOTBALL
When I first kicked a ball, I was just chasing joy. Then it became a job. Then it became survival. Then it became pride.

Now, it’s about something deeper: _family_.

I don’t just want my children to play football because I did. I want them to understand _why_ I played.
I want them to know the early morning trainings, the rejections, the injuries, the sacrifices that come with wearing our surname on a jersey.

I want people to hear our family name 10, 15, 20 years from now and say: _“Oh, those ones. Hardworking. Disciplined. They love the game.”_

That’s the kind of legacy money can’t buy.

TEACHING MORE THAN SKILLS
People think raising footballers is about drills and academies. And yes, technique matters. First touch, passing, vision.

But more than that, I want to teach them character.

Football will test them. Coaches will shout. Fans will criticize. Agents will lie. Money will tempt them.
If all I give them is skill without values, the game will chew them up.

So I’m teaching them humility when they win.
Resilience when they lose.
Respect for teammates, opponents, and the badge.
And most importantly: play for love first, not just fame.

Because if they love it, they’ll survive it.

THE PRESSURE AND THE JOY
I know there’s pressure in carrying a father’s name. People will compare them to me. _“Is he as good as his dad?”_
That’s why I’ll never force them.

My job is to open the door, not push them through it.
If they choose football, I’ll be their first coach and their loudest fan.
If they choose something else, I’ll support that too.

But deep down, my prayer is simple: that they fall in love with the same game that gave me everything.

A DREAM THAT OUTLIVES ME
Retirement is coming for all of us. One day I won’t be on the pitch anymore.

But if I see my son score his first goal, or my daughter captain her team, or both of them represent the country with our name on their back…
Then I didn’t just play football. I passed it on.

That’s how a family name becomes a movement.
That’s how one generation’s dream becomes the next generation’s reality.

Trophies gather dust. Records get broken.
But a name built on hard work, discipline, and love for the game? That echoes.

*TO EVERY FOOTBALL DAD READING THIS*
What legacy are you building?
Are you training your kids, or just watching them?
Are you teaching them the game, or just the highlights?

Let’s raise children who don’t just chase football.
Let’s raise children who raise the name.
